75 Years with the Hotel" by Shinichi Kanaya-
"Seventy-five Years with the Hotel" by Kanaya Shinichi is a memoir that covers the hotel from its early days to its development.
It is often referenced and quoted in this special feature.

It was published in 1954 (Showa 29), when Shinichi turned 75 years old.
The foreword by Shinichi reads as follows.
My resume is quite simple. Immediately after graduating from school, he started supporting his father's hotel business, and has continued to do so from beginning to end.
To this day, at the age of 75, I have devoted myself to this path without looking away, but in that time Japan has gone through periods of change and upheaval, from the Meiji, Taisho, and Showa eras. And the hotel business has grown along with these changes. Therefore, the path I have taken is like walking the same path as Japan, together with the hotel business.
So I have evoked my memories and written this article in the hope that it will help people to recognize how closely this business was connected to Japan's diplomacy and acquisition of foreign currency during the Meiji, Taisho, and Showa periods, and that it will encourage even greater interest in the development of this industry.
"75 Years with the Hotel" by Shinichi Kanaya
As this sentence says, the early days and development of our hotel were truly turbulent times for Japan.
This book is filled with historical testimony of the trial and error that went into creating the service during those times.
This book is truly a treasure.
