The Nikko Yayoi Festival is held every year from April 13th to 17th (the family procession takes place over two days, the evening festival on the 16th and the main festival on the 17th), and is an annual festival of Futarasan Shrine that has been going for over 1,200 years, heralding the arrival of spring in Nikko.
On the 17th, the day of the main festival, the "Tsukematsuri" festival is held by the townspeople. This Tsukematsuri festival is said to have begun around the Genroku period of the Edo period.
