19：もちつき　ーthe mochi-poundingー

お正月にはお客様と餅つきを楽しみました。
During the New Year holidays, we enjoyed making rice cakes with our guests.

日光で過ごすお正月をお楽しみいただこうと、日光金谷ホテルでは玄関前ロータリ―で、中禅寺金谷ホテルではロビーで、お客様と餅つきを行っていました。
To help guests enjoy the New Year in Nikko, we pounded rice cakes with them at the rotary in front of the entrance to Nikko Kanaya Hotel, and in the lobby of Chuzenji Kanaya Hotel.

餅つきが始まると3〜40人の方々のご参加があり、スタッフと共に辺りには威勢の良い掛け声が響きました。お子様に杵を持ってついていただくことも多くありました。また、これを毎年楽しみにお泊まりいただくお客様もいらっしゃいました。
When the mochi-pounding started, 30 to 40 people participated, and the staff and the surrounding area rang out with spirited shouts. In many cases, children were asked to hold the mallet and pound the mochi. There were also guests who came to stay and look forward to this every year.

新型ウィルスの流行後、餅つきは行わなくなってしまいましたが、お客様とホテルスタッフとの楽しい思い出となりました。
Although the mochi pounding event was no longer held following the outbreak of the new coronavirus, it remains a fond memory for guests and hotel staff.
